I've been volunteering at Sophie's school in several capacities over the past few years, and this week I tried something new: being a "cashier" at Tecumseh's Scholastic Book Fair. It's quite the event - held in the school library, every class in the school is brought down to both "browse" and (if money's been sent from home) buy a new book or two. In addition to class visits, parents come and go, and a flood of students from every age range sweep through at recess and lunch. It was a blast, not only helping the students with their purchases but also browsing through all the great books... I've got quite the Christmas list on the go as a result of my two volunteer shifts this week!
