My smiling angel in the sea of cute little concert faces...

There is nothing in this world quite like a children's Christmas concert... it's so much fun watching the kids get up on stage and perform for their parents, grandparents and other relatives. They're so proud of themselves and excited to see their family in the audience - waving wildly and poking the kid next to them to say "that's my mom/dad/grandma!!!". With the exception of those poor children with stage fright, a Christmas concert has got to be one of the best events of the school year, and we got to enjoy Sophie's this evening. I've heard other parents complain of having to sit through other performances before their child takes the stage (and then sneaking out as soon as their kid is done), but the whole concert was so much fun I wouldn't have wanted to miss any of it. What a blast, watching students in Grades three and below dance, sing and act their way through about an hour of holiday-themed concert fun... and of course I thought Sophie's JK/SK group did particularly well as they closed out the show. They sang "Let There be Peace on Earth", complete with accompanying sign language during the chorus... such a great effort for such little performers.

OMG Sophie just looks like she is having a blast while surrounded but a sea of serious children. I'm glad she is not one of the ones with stage fright (being on stage or in front of people must be in the genes), and that she enjoys it so much. The little movie is a great touch! Loved it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's my kid alright - in the midst of several "I'm not so sure I like this..." faces, there's Sophie with a smile big enough to make up for anyone else's frown! She's got such light in her...
